Advanced and compassionate care.
Monday - Friday: 8.00am - 5.00pm
Please note patients are seen by appointment only. Appointments can only be made on a referral basis, through your usual veterinarian.
Your pet may require our services if a problem develops, which due to its complex, protracted, or difficult nature requires a veterinarian with additional training and experience for diagnosis and treatment.
Your veterinarian will have assessed your pet’s condition and probably suggested that referral to a surgeon with advanced surgical training is indicated. Referral to our hospital demonstrates your veterinarians concern for your pet’s welfare and their ability to identify conditions which will benefit from being your pet being referred to VetSOS.
We aim to make complex scenarios easy for you to understand and support you and your pet by delivering the best treatment in our hospital. We have modern, well-equipped imaging and surgical facilities staffed by a highly trained and experienced team.
We offer a caring, personalised service in a relaxed and friendly environment. Your pet will receive professional care as well as be treated in a kind and respectful manner.
Dr Bruce Meyers qualified as a Veterinarian in 1993 and completed his Master’s Degree in Small Animal Surgery in 2008. He is registered as a Specialist Veterinary Surgeon with the South African Veterinary Council.
Immediately after specialising, Bruce started St Helier Veterinary Hospital and Specialist Centre, and designed and project managed the establishment of a state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital in South Africa. Bruce has earned a remarkable reputation with both the Veterinarians in the area and the public at large.
Bruce and his family emigrated to New Zealand in 2021 and outside of work he is a keen mountain biker, loves the ocean (and kite surfing!), and spending time with his family.
We are thrilled to have him at VetSOS as an experienced surgeon operating on a referral basis in the Waikato.
Donna graduated from Massey University in 2005 and after spending a few years nursing in the lower north island she headed to the UK and spent 2 years working in the greater London area. It was here she gained her first taste of working in referral surgical hospitals and was happy to be able to come home and utilise her skills by joining the VetSOS team on her return in 2011.
Tegan graduated from Unitec and joined Pet Doctors as a vet nurse in 2011. In 2015 she joined VetSOS and enjoys the challenge that comes with working in referral surgery, particularly in the role of surgical assistant.
Allysha is a Hamilton local and graduated from Wintec in 2016. She joined Pet Doctors shortly after and enjoyed building her experience and working with animals. After helping us out here at VetSOS on a relief basis we are excited to have her join the VetSOS team as both a skilled veterinary nurse and a kind and hardworking team member.
